Health Care

ONE—Everyone with a body needs (and so has a right to) air, water, and to maintain their health.  It makes no sense for the health of a country to be limited to the rich.  Undeniably, care providers deserve to be paid for their expertise, but our system has become horribly skewed and misshapen by thinking providers must only care for those paying certain amounts of money to certain people.  We should all have access to affordable health care, regardless of what we do, where we live, what we look like.  Priorities for government spending need to encompass supporting The Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, Medicare, and accessible care even in rural areas.

TWO—Limiting access to healthcare and keeping women from having control of their own bodies is demeaning, unjustified, and creates a separate class of citizenship that interferes with mental and physical health.  Medical care and mental health decisions should be made by a person in relationship with those providing their care—insurance companies and the government should not be involved.  Unfortunately, Republicans have decided that they are in a position to decide for others without knowing them, their families, and without any scientific training in health care.
