Gun Ownership

Our Need:  Gun ownership is a right and responsible ownership is a must.

Perspective

When was the last time a group of any sort came to your house and demanded you turn over your gun(s)?  I own guns, and have for decades, and I’ve never been asked.  Think about it:  alarming claims that “democrats are coming for all your guns!” are sheer nonsense and pure fear-mongering. Really, it makes those people sound like big kids trying to scare the little kids on the playground with bogey-man stories.

The Constitution allows all US citizens the right to bear arms, and the huge majority of Americans are smart enough to know that sensible regulations are in all our best interests.  Acting as though there is no impact letting people buy guns on the spur of the moment, or making it easier for teens, those with certain mental illness, or domestic abusers to have guns, is just deciding gun manufactures have more right to make big(ger) profits than we have a right to safety.  And bigger profits for gun manufacturers works only if you own a LOT of stock in one of those companies.

Dismantling proven-effective rules that stop impulse gun purchases while pronouncing that anyone can and should carry a gun and be able to display it openly sounds like little boys wanting to play grown-ups, not thoughtful, caring members of society looking to protect each other.  Sensible gun ownership in a safe society is the clear goal.
